Hasidic Jew, Menachem Stark — Who didn’t want him dead — kidnapped and murdered, in Long Island

“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the incredibly insensitive and crass cover of today’s New York Post which mocks the kidnapping and brutal murder of Menachem Stark,” said Senator Simcha Felder (D-Brooklyn). The Post must issue an immediate apology to the Stark family and to all New Yorkers for its egregious behavior and failure to exercise any judgment whatsoever in this matter.” — Simcha Felder

“The New York Post’s unbelievably offensive headline this morning comes the day after Mr. Stark’s family and children, as well as an entire community, laid him to rest and are still mourning his death.

For the New York Post to suggest that a person deserved to be murdered is sickening and reaches a new low. The entire community is outraged by such a vulgar headline that is so offensive and horrific.

The New York Post should pull their story and issue an apology to the family and community that are still in mourning.”

January 4, 2014 Williamsburg, Brooklyn (CBSNewYork) — The partially-burned body of a Brooklyn real estate developer was discovered in a dumpster in Great Neck, Long Island this week, a day after police said he was kidnapped in Brooklyn.

Nassau County police confirmed Saturday afternoon that the body found inside a dumpster at a Getty gas station on Cuttermill Road, in Great Neck, was that of Menachem Stark, 39. The body was found Friday afternoon.

Stark, a real estate developer from Williamsburg, Brooklyn was kidnapped Thursday night.

Around 11:35 p.m. Thursday, the 39-year-old victim exited the Southside Associates real estate office, at 331 Rutledge St. in Brooklyn, when two suspects struggled with him and forced him into a light colored 2006 or 2007 Dodge Caravan.

The victim was likely duct taped, police said.

The suspects drove off with the victim inside. The minivan was last seen heading east on Broadway in Brooklyn, police said.

Stark’s wife reported him missing when he never came home.

Police have released a surveillance video of the incident and a photo of the minivan. No description of the suspects was available.

On Saturday, a shocked community gathered at the Stark’s home as NYPD officials appeared to deliver the unspeakable news to the victim’s family, CBS 2′s Steve Langford reported.

Anyone with information was asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers website, or text tips to 274637 (CRIMES) and enter TIP577.
