January 31, 2014, Hartford, Connecticut (WTNH) — A man charged in Hartford’s first homicide of 2014 is expected to make his first appearance in court today.
Police arrested and charged Deranna Fletcher with murder.
The shooting happened back on January 15 on Sumner Street. Police say Fletcher shot Mark McNickle in the head in a parking lot. McNickle was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Fletcher was picked up at his apartment in Manchester. Police also found nearly 100 pounds of marijuana, $39,000 in cash, and two guns.
“We’re very thankful that the state’s attorney office, the Manchester police department, and the East Hartford police department quickly mobilized their resources to get a killer off the street, as well as thwart a major drug operation,” Lt. Brian Foley, Hartford Police, said.
Fletcher is being held on $2 million bond.
